Introducing a Guide to Indigenizing Your Course-FR and SJ
Event Details:
UNB has a guide to help faculty and instructors make their courses more welcoming for Indigenous students. It is called Piluwitahasuwawsuwakon and Your Course and can be found on this Web page.
Piluwitahasuwawsuwakon, pronounced "bill-wee-duh-huz-zoo-wows-sue-wah’-gn" is a Wolastoqey term meaning “Allowing your thinking to change so that action will follow in a good way toward truth.” It encapsulates the spirit of what must change on the part of students and instructors for our courses to feel truly welcoming to Indigenous students.
Bev Bramble, CETL Instructional Designer, will introduce the guide and highlight some key elements in it, and Amanda Myran, UNB's Piluwitahasuwin (AVP of Indigenous Engagement), Starlit Simon, Aboriginal Student Advisor, Nancy Harn, Indigenous Wellness Coordinator, and Katelyn Copage, Wabanaki Experiential Education Coordinator, will guide question-and-answer and discussion.
