Please join us for a talk on family-friendly community resources by Canada Research Chair, Dr. Marisa Young, from McMaster University. Title: The 'Canadian Family-Friendly Community Resources for Better Balance, Health and Well-Being' Study: An Advanced Approach to Studying Residential Effects.

Marisa Young is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at McMaster University, an Early Career Fellow at the Work-Family Research Network (formally the Sloan Foundation), and a Canadian Research Chair in Mental Health and Work-Life Transitions. Her research investigates the intersection between work, family, and residential contexts to bring a greater understanding to social inequalities in mental health for parents and children. Dr. Young recently received an Early Researcher Award from the Ontario Ministry of Science and Innovation to examine the impact of family-friendly community resources (FFCR) on parents’ experiences of work-family conflict, health, and well-being over time.

Dr. Young's work has been published in well-known journals, such as the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Journal of Marriage & Family, Family Relations, Journal of Family Issues, Society & Mental Health, and Work & Stress. Her contribution to work and family scholarship has also been notably recognized, receiving several nominations for the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Award for Excellence in Work-Family Research and the National Council on Family Relations Reubin Hill Award.
