Bharatanatyam - Learn to Dance

Learn the classic art of Bharatanatyam dance

The introductory workshop will focus on the fundamental aspects of Bharatanatyam. This classical art form originating from South India is renowned for its intricate footwork, hand gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements, which are employed to narrate stories ranging from the simple to the intricate. The workshop will delve into the utilization of the body as a means of maintaining rhythm while also expressing emotions through Abhinaya techniques.

During a Bharatanatyam dance workshop, students will engage in a variety of activities specific to this classical Indian dance form. They will learn and practice the fundamental elements of Bharatanatyam, such as adavus (basic steps), mudras (hand gestures), abhinaya (expressions), and nritta (pure dance movements). The workshop will focus on developing proper body alignment, balance, and coordination, which are essential for executing the intricate footwork and rhythmic patterns characteristic of Bharatanatyam.
