I am delighted to present an overview of another year of significant progress for the University of New Brunswick (UNB). This past year (September 2021 to September 2022), through the innovation and commitment of our community, significant progress was made on our UNB Toward 2030 priorities. We achieved growth in enrolment, research chairs, programs and partnerships.
UNB researchers made great strides in producing translational research that addresses some of the most pressing challenges of our time. They are improving healthcare by finding creative ways to train and attract more health-care professionals, developing mobility rehabilitation and sustainable construction solutions, incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing and healing into our programs and increasing access to mental health supports.
I have been inspired by the momentum of some signature UNB projects including the McKenna Institute as well as the transition of the Integrated Health Initiative from the planning to implementation stage. As these important initiatives move forward, enhanced opportunities for our students and for our province will be realized.
Through their achievements in the classroom, in the lab, on the fields, at the rink, or in the community, our students continue to amaze and inspire me. Increasingly, our students are also exceling in the workplace as thousands take part in UNB experiential education programs.
As you read this annual report, I have no doubt you will be inspired by the accomplishments of the UNB community who once again prove why the world needs more UNB.
With kind regards,
Paul J. Mazerolle
UNB President and Vice-Chancellor
