UNB honoured more than 30 of its faculty for their teaching excellence in 2015. Five university-wide awards were given out.
Lyle Hamm, education, was awarded the Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching. This award recognizes outstanding teaching. Professors are nominated from students and faculty members. Hamm was presented with the award during UNB’s fall Convocation.
John Johnson, science, applied science and engineering (biology), received the University Teaching Scholar Award.
Valerie Reeves, science (chemistry), received the UNB Student Union Teaching Excellence Award. Student Union vice-president Jessie Reid says that he is “pleased to see that the university cares about good teaching, that it makes regular efforts to continually improve teaching quality, and that it recognizes excellent teaching.”
Ben Newling, science (physics), was also awarded the Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching. He also received the University Teaching Scholar Award and the Faculty of Science Teaching Award.
Kathy Wilson, nursing, received the Neil Scott Educational Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals who have taken a leadership role and have developed and improved the teaching culture within university.
