Gain practical engineering skills and knowledge to protect our planet.
The Bachelor of Environmental Engineering Technology (BEVT) program at the University of New Brunswick Saint John campus is a two-year post-diploma bachelor’s degree program designed to equip students with the skills to develop clean energy sources, reduce environmental footprint and protect our ecosystem, resources and public health.
The technical competencies and design skills of this program, along with the business component create a career path to engineering management. Courses are designed with an emphasis on problem-solving and optimization, with a challenging final-year project.
UNB’s Saint John campus is located near well-established oil and gas facilities, transport companies, a large hospital, public utilities and a mix of heavy and light industries, offering valuable opportunities for students for experiential learning.
Develop practical skills through laboratory work, field studies, and real-life work experience. The capstone project will provide the opportunity to apply hands-on skills, fostering experimental, design and analytical capabilities.
This flexible pathway allows students to achieve a university-level credential on their preferred timeline and strengthens experiential learning possibilities and future employability.
The program has been carefully designed for a college diploma holder to be successful in entering third- and fourth-year university courses.
BEVT was developed in direct response to industry demands. Graduates will be well-suited for positions in municipal, hydraulics, water treatment, and water resources engineering technologies, as well as roles that align with civil or chemical engineering. Some roles include:

This program is open to applicants who have successfully completed a minimum of a two-year engineering technology diploma program or equivalent from an accredited college with an average of 70% or higher.
You may be eligible for BEVT if you have completed one of the following diploma programs or similar from an accredited college:
The BIDT and BEVT programs do not lead to professional engineer (PEng) licensure, though the programs and course learning objectives have been carefully designed to align with Engineers Canada competencies. Graduates will be positioned for future competency-based licensure on a case-by-case basis and will also meet the eligibility requirements to enter a master of engineering program.
