General Information (16 or 17 ch)
The certificate program is designed to meet the foundational knowledge/skills needs of students who desire to pursue further education in an applied Health Science. The certificate acts as prerequisite learning for UNB’s Bachelor of Nursing Accelerated program. It may have portability to other applied Health Science programs within and beyond post-secondary education in Atlantic Canada. Applicants can take the certificate as a stand-alone package leading to an exit award, or they can take it alongside other undergraduate studies.
Students must meet the following minimum admission requirements in order to be eligible for entrance into the Certificate of Foundations of Biomedical Sciences program.
- English 122/Français 10411 (min. grade of 70%) •
- Foundations of Math 120 or Precalculus 110/Mathematiques 30321B or Mathematiques 30331C • Biology 120/Biologie 53411 (min. grade of 70%)
- Chemistry 122/Chimie 52411 (min. grade of 70%)
- Two electives - Group 1
- Minimum admission average 75%

BIOL1711 Human Anatomy or BIOL1719: Human Anatomy I (online)
BIOL2251 Microbiology, BIOL2259 Clinical Microbiology (online), or BIOL3261 Microbiology
BIOL2501 Pathophysiology I, or BIOL2509 Pathophysiology I (online)
STAT 2263 Statistics for Non-Science Majors (online), or STAT2264 Statistics for Biology, or equivalent introductory statistics course at the 2000 level or higher
