Analysis is the branch of mathematics that deals with approximation, convergence, and change. The first half of a two-term introduction to the foundations of analysis that concludes with MATH 3113. It covers the axiomatic characterization of the real numbers, metric spaces, sequences and numerical series, limits and continuity of functions. Prerequisites: MATH 1013 or MATH 1063; MATH 2203; one of MATH 2213 or MATH 1503; or permission of the instructor. |
