Discover the African and Caribbean literary traditions through a reflection on “Otherness” including a consideration of related concepts such as exoticism. How does the question of Otherness allow us to reconsider francophone texts touching on colonization, slavery, racism and genocide? Study various literary genres, including a selection of essays, poems, novels and travel journals written by authors from Martinique, Haiti, Algeria and the Ivory Coast.
