Web science integrates computer information sciences with multiple aspects of social sciences. Web Science is concerned with the socio-technical aspects of the World Wide Web. Understanding the web requires analysis of its architecture and applications, the people, organizations, policies and economics that are affected by it and impact it. This course will explore the history of the Web and how evolution of metadata representation standards have resulted in a smarter web. Students will primarily do a hands-on data analytics project using Open Data, Linked Data and SPARQL endpoints available on the web. Prerequisites: 70ch completed or permission of the instructor. |
