This course examines media industries in Hollywood from 1950 to present. Possible topics include the relationships between the film and and television industries, the changing economic structures of Hollywood studios to conglomerate takeovers (and how they affected production and the products themselves), transmedia practices of linking franchises across multiple forms, the place of Hollywood in a global media market, and new directions of Hollywood entertainment industries in the digital era. Open to students who have completed 45 credit hours, or with permission of the instructor. |
