This course examines, at a fundamental level, the ways by which animals function, with an emphasis on physiological adaptations to the environment. Topics covered include respiration and circulation, metabolism and bioenergetics, thermal adaptation, ionic and osmotic regulation, and integrative neuromuscular, endocrine and sensory physiology. Prerequisite: BIOL 2023 or 2033, or permission of the instructor. Strongly recommended: BIOL 2063 or 2093 |
