This course is designed to help learners develop fundamental interpersonal communication and counselling support skills emerging from a variety of theoretical orientations. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of the therapeutic, helper-client relationship, including the practice of deep listening, advanced empathy, focusing, facilitative self-disclosure, confrontation and immediacy from both Indigenous and mainstream perspectives.
