A limited number of seats are available at the ceremony. Parents and guests (including children/infants) who wish to attend must have a ticket for admission. Tickets (two per graduating student) can be obtained:
- May 18, 2017: from 3 - 4 pm in the Hazen Hall foyer, outside of the Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre
- May 19, 2017: from 10 am - 12 pm, in the K.C. Irving Hall foyer, outside of K.C. Irving Hall Room 101
Tickets are free of charge. Please advise your guests that the gymnasium will be open for seating beginning at 12:30 pm on May 19. Seats are unassigned and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No food - only water - is permitted in the gymnasium.
We are pleased to announce that once again, friends and family who do not have a ticket will be able to sit in overflow seating in the Hazen Hall Lecture Theatre to view the ceremony via a live-feed.
The ceremony will also be streamed live for online viewing. Information on how to access the webcast is as follows:
The link to the webcast is: http://events.news-cast.com/
The password to access the convocation webcast is: 6379
The 'Watch Now' button will become active just before the event begins and viewers will be asked for the password before they watch. (Viewing is limited.)
Note: Web-based video standards and web browsers continue to evolve in multiple directions and unfortunately it’s not possible (yet) to have one implementation that works for everyone. We will be webcasting in Flash/H.264 format and recommend using the latest Internet Explorer or Chrome browser on the Windows platform for viewing.
We strongly recommend that viewers test their video playback capability by going to the page below in advance of the convocation broadcast: http://events.news-cast.com/Troubleshoot.htm
If graduates are interested in receiving additional tickets for the ceremony, they should send an email request to the Office of the Registrar by Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Graduates may request between 1 - 4 possible extra tickets. There is no guarantee any additional tickets may be available.
All graduates submitting a request for additional guest tickets will be given consideration after this date and will receive an email notification of whether their requests were able to be accommodated as soon as possible after Tuesday, May 9, 2017. All tickets will be available for pick up as noted above.
Special needs seating arrangements
The Convocation Committee is pleased to assist guests in wheelchairs who require assistance in accessing the gymnasium. It is essential, however, that you inform us by contacting the Office of the Registrar via email no later than 4:30 pm on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. Your request must provide the name and student number of the graduating student, the name of the guest requiring assistance and the name of the person accompanying him/her.
Please contact the SRC Office for additional information on graduation photos and on how to have your photo included in the Class of 2017 photo composite.
Photos during the Ceremony
The UNB photographer will take a photograph of each graduate on the stage. You will be able to easily download a print quality photograph a few weeks after the ceremony. Details will appear in the Convocation program.
As a result, we ask you to encourage your guests not to block the aisles if they wish to take their own photographs during the ceremony. It is strongly recommended that you wait until after the ceremony and use the stage for photographs.
Bouquets of fresh flowers will be available for purchase at the entrance to the G. Forbes Elliot Athletics Centre prior to and during the graduation ceremonies. Prices start at $20 for a half dozen roses, $30 for the graduation bouquet with one dozen roses. If you would like to pre-order your bouquet, where they will be available for pick up that day, go to www.ConvocationFlowers.ca/UNBSaintJohn
