Mentorship Program & Business Networking
This program is an important part of our MBA program and provides invaluable opportunities to our students. As an MBA student, you will have the option to be matched with a senior executive, providing a direct link to the local business community.
Mentors - Vice Presidents, CEOs and mid-level managers - are drawn from a network of private and public sector companies and research organizations. Formal functions such as workshops, seminars, panel discussions, dinners and mixers are arranged throughout the year to introduce you to leaders in various industries and provide opportunities for you to perfect your networking skills.
Classes are led by visiting scholars and business leaders in addition to the MBA faculty. Our Professional Development Program also brings MBA students and industry experts together to engage in discussions about current, and future, situations, building valuable connections within the business community.
Meet our mentors
Gerry Pond, Chairman, Mariner Partners
As Chairman of Mariner Partners, Inc., Gerry brings over 40 years of in-depth experience in the information and communications technology industry and is the driving force behind the formation of Mariner Partners, Inc.
Having been the President of Aliant Telecom (now Bell Aliant) and CEO of NBTel during a period of significant deregulation in the Canadian industry, Gerry continues to demonstrate his ability to successfully restructure companies, while delivering revenue growth and strong operating results.
Gerry has also proven to be an innovator with such start-up IT companies as Q1Labs, iMagicTV, and Brovada Technologies.
In addition to a wealth of knowledge regarding partnerships with government for the purpose of using infrastructure as an economic development tool, Gerry continues to prove himself as an experienced leader in change management, labour relations, complex post-merger integration, and strategic partnerships.
Susan Harley, Director Small and Medium Business Marketing, Bell Aliant
Susan Harley is the Director, Small and Medium Business Marketing at Bell Aliant. Susan has been with Aliant (and it's predecessor companies) for over 25 years.
She has worked in a number of roles of increasing responsibility and scope in Aliant, including Finance, Customer Services, Planning, Sales and Marketing.
In her current position, Susan is responsible for marketing to the small and medium business customers throughout Atlantic Canada.
Susan is very active in both her local business community in greater Saint John, and on a broader scale in New Brunswick. She is the past President of Uptown Saint John, a Board Member of the Law Society of New Brunswick, Vice-Chair of St. Joseph's Hospital Capital Campaign, a member of the Saint John Executive Association, and a team manager for two minor hockey teams in the Kennebecasis Valley.
She has a Bachelor of Business Administration (1982), and an MBA (1993) from UNB.
