"After graduating from St. Malachy’s Memorial High School (Saint John, NB) in 2007, and knowing that travel was the thing that always lit a fire in me, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Bachelor of Applied Management in Hospitality and Tourism here at UNBSJ.
This program requires years at both the university and college level, giving participants two industry credentials. I started my degree at UNBSJ, where I studied introductory classes in tourism and business.
In 2008, I continued my studies at the New Brunswick Community College in St. Andrews. During my time at NBCC I studied International Travel and Tourism, gaining hands on experience in and outside of the classroom. I was able to study and live in Merida, Mexico for ten weeks and worked in the tourism industry to fulfill a work practicum.
Now, back at UNBSJ to complete my studies, I’m very excited to gain more knowledge before graduating with a BAMHT. Future plans include international tourism development.
Thanks to UNBSJ for offering such a unique and diverse program. I have been able to gain the stepping stones I need to succeed in this growing industry."
