Become a Seawolf

Do you want to play for the Seawolves and represent UNB Saint John at the collegiate level?

The Seawolves Soccer Training Camp starts now.

Required level of experience

Coaches look for individuals with a high skill set and a strong team mindset. Past experience within a high calibre program is preferred, such as:

  • being a starter on your high school team
  • playing on another college or university team
  • playing on a high-performance club team
  • playing on a provincial or national team
  • playing on a team in the upper division of a city or regional program

Time commitment for a varsity team

Time management skills are essential for any varsity athlete.

The soccer season typically runs from late August to early November. Depending on the team’s results, games might be scheduled until mid-November.

The team practices three to four times a week, for an hour-and-a-half. Games typically happen on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Occasionally, games are scheduled on Thursdays. These are typically played against neighbouring teams to make sure that student-athletes are not travelling for extended periods on a school night.

We encourage you to reach out to Student Services to help you succeed academically throughout the school year.

Fees to play soccer

All Seawolves varsity soccer athletes are required to pay a $250 fee. This covers team expenses such as:

  • team apparel
  • specialty training

The fee can be paid out-of-pocket. Donors can also be secured through our Adopt-a-Seawolf program.

The athletics department covers the cost of transportation and hotels for league play.

Players receive a meal subsidy while travelling out of province to offset food expenses.
