Leadership for Sustainable Futures Research Celebration Day

Learn about cutting-edge research in the Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering (SASE)! In this session, students will present posters of their research.

Posters will be displayed around the room and students will be standing-by to explain their research and answer questions. It is a great way to get an overview of all of the exciting research in SASE explained by the students leading each project.

Posters will be judged and there will be prizes for the top three posters for travel awards to help the student present their research at a scientific conference.

Microscopy & Microanalysis Facility 60th Anniversary

Established in 1966, the Microscopy and Microanalysis Facility (MMF) has trained and collaborated with more than 1000 unique University of New Brunswick users and more than 500 external clients since we started tracking electronically twenty years ago. We support research across four different faculties: science, engineering, forestry, and arts!

These events celebrate the longstanding history of the MMF and the exciting research enabled for UNB students today across multiple disciplines.

We will hear from the previous three generations of MMF directors (Gerry Bance, Susan Belfrey, and Dr. Douglas Hall) as well as Mary Ann Trevors who was previously trained at the MMF before becoming Chief Technologist at Dalhousie.

After the cake cutting, students will have 3 minutes to pitch their research to an audience before a non-traditional poster competition to win $500 worth of prizes!

Lastly, there will be two exhibits – “60 Year Highlight Reel” at the data visualization lab for the day and “A Story of Scale” lasting the entirety of October at the Harriet Irving Library. Please join us in the celebrations!

Cultivating Curiosity: A Faculty of Education Research & Inquiry Micro-Showcase

Join virtually and RSVP

Hosted by the Faculty of Education, Cultivating Curiosity invites faculty, graduate and undergraduate students, staff, and others engaged in inquiry from across UNB to share a VERY short, accessible glimpse of something they are researching, exploring, questioning, or creating.

We understand “researcher” broadly and welcome work at every stage, from an initial provocation or emerging idea to research in progress or a completed project. Contributions can take many forms- including a one-minute video or podcast-style recording, brief written piece, image, comic, poem, infographic, diagram, or other creative format - and should offer an accessible entry point into what you are curious about and why it matters.

Submit to the Padlet by Sunday, Oct. 4. From Oct. 5 until noon on Oct. 9, the UNB community will be invited to explore the virtual showcase, comment on contributions, and vote for the post that most effectively communicates its inquiry.

Then join us for the live virtual micro-showcase, where we will celebrate the contributions, announce the audience favourites, and make connections across the questions, ideas, and possibilities taking shape across UNB.

The aim is simple: to make our collective curiosity visible and create opportunities for connection, conversation, and collaboration.
