Creative College Jr. (Age 10-14)
Lets Create it! This camp will include work in a number of different art forms including:
Paper Mache Party - Design and create amazing masks and figures! Visualize a design and capture that concept in a drawing. Then, with the help of Design Works professional artists, transform that drawing into a 3-D object. If you can imagine it, you can create it!
Draw and Paint Theory – Learn how to make realistic drawings, using line, shape, tone, and more! Use a wide variety of artistic tools (brushes, spreaders etc), styles, techniques and colour mediums, and then apply these concepts to your 3-D work.
Clay Creations – Using clay, sculpt fantastic creatures and imaginative objects. Use 2-D design to help imagine the concepts, and then build these concepts in 3-D sculpture. Using non-toxic moulding clay that can be fired in the family oven; this skill can be brought home for your future artistic works.
Up-Cycle Madness! – Creative College artists create amazing artworks and functional wares out of found and used materials. Junk is in the eye of the beholder, and this art form shows artists how to see the many potential uses for objects in our throw-away culture.
Inside and Out: Design Works in Saint John takes place adjacent to the beautiful Rothesay Common, and we’ll be making use of this space for our art studies too, weather permitting.
Every Friday afternoon at 3:45pm, UNB’s Design Works in Saint John hosts an exhibition of the children’s work. Parents and family are invited to attend this one-of-a-kind gallery show to view their children’s masterpieces and enjoy juice and snacks.
